How it began
Two people, one rainy afternoon, and three book recommendations that changed everything.
The Meeting
They met at a small bookshop in Lyon on a rainy afternoon in October 2019. James was looking for a travel memoir; Sofia was returning one. She recommended three books. He read all of them that weekend, just so he'd have something to say if he ever saw her again.
The Journey
Two years, four countries, and one too many delayed trains later, they found themselves standing in a lavender field in the Luberon as the light turned gold. James had the ring in his jacket pocket for three days. He was waiting for the right moment — and then the right moment simply appeared.
The Question
He asked on a Tuesday, completely unplanned, over a mediocre café crème at a table outside a boulangerie. Sofia said yes before he finished the sentence. They celebrated with a bottle of wine they couldn't really afford, and have never once regretted it.
